RDG Roofing was founded in DeLand by Doug Richards in 2000 — but Doug had already been working on Florida roofs for six years by then. He grew up in Volusia County, learned the trade on local crews, and started his own company because he wanted to do the work the right way: honestly, carefully, and with the customer treated like a neighbor (because in DeLand, they usually were).

That hasn't changed in 25+ years. RDG is still family-owned. Doug still answers his own phone. And the same name on the truck is the same person who'll be on your roof during the inspection.

What "family-owned" actually means

The phrase gets thrown around a lot in this industry, often by national franchises that want to sound local. At RDG it means something specific:

• Doug runs the inspections personally. Not a salesperson, not a "project consultant" working on commission.
• The owner of the company is the person whose reputation is on the line. If something goes wrong on your job, you're talking to the same guy who started the business.
• We work in our own backyard. Most of our jobs are within 30 miles of our DeLand office. Our customers are people we run into at the grocery store. That's not just marketing — it changes how careful you are with someone's home.
• We're here next year, and the year after. Florida is full of roofers who pop up after a storm and disappear before the warranty matters. We've been here since 2000. We'll be here when you need us.

Two licenses, one standard

RDG holds two state of Florida contractor licenses:

Most companies in our space carry one or the other. Carrying both means we can take on roofing-only jobs and full residential construction projects, including additions, remodels, and new builds — all under the same crew, same supervision, same standard of work.
